If you thought the Perth Harriettes have been pounding the pavement
for an eternity then you would be close. Our Club was founded in 1978
when Wes "Old Wares" Carter and Tess Bell joined forces to gather a dozen
enthusiastic ladies together one Sunday in July for the inaugural run.
The phrase "Where Bosoms Bounce Best" was coined on that first run
with Old Wares' shins still bearing scars from the Harriettes' reaction
to his (at the time) very sexist remark.
Since then a lot has changed - the run is now on a Tuesday evening,
the pack average 45 + and that "sexist remark" has been updated to "Where
Boobs Bounce Best". So, if you have not seen us in action, come along
and join us for a run some time soon.
Over the years we have been very lucky to have had many dedicated Committees guiding the Clubs' development and they have a lot to answer for....eye-catching haberdashery, sensational special events, classy skits, milestone runs and a colourful history of hashing. Where would we be without them. There is also an enthusiastic bunch of travelling Harriettes who head off at a moments notice to events around the country and oveseas. As a result, the Perth Harriettes are highly recognisable and generally well known in the hash community.
The Perth Harriettes celebrated their 30 Anniversary in July 2008 and, with new members regularly joining the club, we are set to leave our mark well into the future. While our boobs may, or may not, be as perky, our enthusiasm and dedication to the hash traditions remain strong. We're ON ON to another 30 years!!!
