The ‘Close to the Heart’ run was fundraising for Down Syndrome WA this year and was organised by Hamersley Hash. The start time was 6.30pm and because we encountering peak hour traffic going south down the freeway we had a bit of a late start. There were 149 Hasher registered. We were served 3 types of curries in plastic containers for dinner. The circle started a bit late as we got to eat first.

Screwy gave us a run down of the history of the ‘Close to the Heart’ run. It was announced that Perth Hash Men will organise next year’s run and it will raise money for Life Line. All the other club GM’s or representatives were brought out the front for a down down, then the Virgins. Then they announced the winners of all the raffle prizes, there were sooooo many prizes!, including frozen crayfish, wine, hats and bags etc. Hamersley then put hashers on ice for a donation. Our Sarge told a joke/story and so did Meatman. The crowd was dwindling from about 9pm as the circle kept going……….., as Hamersley circles do! Eventually I left as my driver had to go at 9.30pm, but I don’t think we missed much after that….
